Tacoma Estate Planning Council
The Estate Planning Council provides an educational and social forum for those professionals in Tacoma who are most active in personal estate planning and trust administration. The Council is composed of members chosen from applicants who are attorneys, Certified Public Accountants, Chartered Life Underwriters, trust officers, or others, such as planned giving professionals, whose professional focus is estate planning.
The Council has seven dinner meetings a year during the months of October, November, December, January, February, March, and May, on the second Tuesday of the month. Members and their guests may attend meetings. We have a speaker at each meeting discussing a topic of relevance to the membership. Recent discussions have included business succession planning, and the effect of long term care expenses in estate planning. Generally, the meetings are held at The Pacific Grill Event Center (1515 Pacific Avenue, downtown Tacoma): 5:30 pm for no-host cocktails, 6:30 pm dinner, and an 8:00 pm adjournment.
Any person interested in applying for membership in the Council must qualify as a member of one of the professional categories mentioned above or be engaged in other specific work relating to estate planning and must be recommended by two current members of the Tacoma Estate Planning Council. There is usually a waiting list in all categories.
The Council's President for the 2009-2010 Fiscal Year is Sherlyn Iverson, CPA. She can be reached at 253-572-4100 if you would like more information.
